THE POWER OF YANTRAS

INTRODUCTION

Yantras sometimes supplement the power of mantras and are often as strong as the mantras themselves. If a mantra is the invsible driving force, the yantra is often the visible means to gain power, wealth, ward off evil, ward off illnesses, nullify the ill effects of planets, bring you luck in love, enhance your capabilities - the range is truly vast. Yantras are sometimes made up of numbers, sometimes of a certain set of symbols, sometimes of mantras. They can be written on paper or bhojpatras (parchment) and worn as a talisman; they can be engraved on an amulet or pendant and worn on the body; they can be painted on a door or wall or the floor, they can be engraved on gold, silver, copper, iron and even painted on leaves, stones and other objects.

The writing, painting, engraving or whatever other form of tansference which is employed must be done according to a specified set of rules. For instance, certain yantras can only be made on certain days, at a certain time. Similarly, there is a distinct link between the kind of yantra and the kind of metal chosen. For example, a yantra to appease the ill effects of the planet Saturn is generally engraved on iron - the metal associated with Saturn. The yantras written, drawn or painted on paper, bhojpatra or leaves, must use the inks specified by ancient texts, such as those made from red sandalwood, or saffron or white sandalwood, etc. The type of pen, its length, width, etc, used for preparing a yantra varies acoording to the purpose and type of yantra. Whether on paper or any other material, the size of the yantra is also pre-specified, as is the duration for which its efficacy will last. Then again, the yantras must be installed in a certain manner, on a certain day, at a certain time, facing a certain direction and must be sanctified by a specific mantra begun on a certain day and time, recited for a specific number of times. There are other rules as well. A particular yantra must be washed in the specified manner, for example, in milk and water. Unless a yantra is worn or installed according to the rules, its efficacy is greatly reduced and remains virtually useless at times.

Some of the earliest yantras are associated with aupiscious symbols and powerful numbers. In ancient India, for instance, the good luck square of nine which always added upto fifteen was deemed a harbinger of prosperity and happiness and even today some business establishments and even homes paint this square (given below) near their main entrance. Whether you add the numbers in the square, vertically, horizontally or diagonally, the total is always fifteen. For eg :8 1 6 or 3 5 7 or 4 9 2

HOW TO USE THE NUMBER YANTRAS GIVEN BELOW

STEP 1

Match your birth number (by adding up your date of birth

- date, month, year - e.g. 19.5.1957 = 1+9+5+1+9+5+7 = 37

= 3+7 = 10 = 1+0 = 1 ) with its ruling planet in the chart.

STEP 2

Choose your yantra based on the following considerations:

Choosing your governing planet would enhance its beneficial qualities.

For instance, if you are number 1, you are governed by the sun. Therefore, choosing the yantra for the Sun should bring you gains.

If your number is 8, you should use either the Sun yantra or the Jupiter yantra.

If your number is 8, but your number according to your name is 1 (please refer to the numerology section), you should use the Jupiter yantra.

If your number is 8, but your number according to your name is 3 or 6, you should use the yantra for the sun.

If your number is 4, you should use the Sun yantra.

If your number is 7, your should use the Moon yantra.

what about geometrical yantras?
i am particularly interessed in Gayatri Yantra at the moment. I have done it by myself with a software on my computer but i don't think it is the traditional way of making yantras.. What do you know about it?
